Three warehouses were gutted in a fire incident at Boro Quarter area in Pahartali of the port city on Sunday afternoon.
The fire originated from an electric short circuit at a cookeries warehouse around 1:00 pm and soon engulfed adjoining jute and tire chemical warehouses, said Jashim Uddin, sub-assistant director of Fire Service And Civil Defence (media).
Three firefighting units doused the fire after two hours of frantic effort, he added.
The estimated losses caused by the fire could not be ascertained yet.
