3 stabbed to death in dists

At least three people were stabbed to death in separate incidents in Pirojpur, Gaibandha and Sherpur districts on Thursday.
In Pirojpur, a schoolteacher was stabbed to death and his wife received serious injuries in an attack by the miscreants at their house in Nazirpur upazila around 2:00am yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Shamiron Majumder, 42. He was an assistant teacher of Pashchim Baniari Government Primary School at Matibhanga village, said Walid Hossain, Superintendent of Police. “A gang of unidentified miscreant stormed the house and hacked Shamiron indiscriminately. Later, the goons fled the scene. He succumbed to his injuries on the way to Khulna Medical College Hospital,” the police official added.
He said Samiron’s wife Swapna Majumder, 28, also received serious injuries during the attack. Swapna is now under treatment at KMCH.
Police also detained a person identified as Mantu in connection with the attack, the police official said.
Meanwhile, an ex Union Parishad member was stabbed to death by his neighbour over extra martial affairs at Khamar Zamira village in Polashbari upazila of Gaibandha district early Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Mahamudur Rahman, 49, son of Nur Hossain Mondal of Monohorpur village. He was a member of Ward no. 7 of Monohorpur union.
Police held two persons in this connection. They are Goffar Ali, 37, of Zamira village, and his son Shahinur Mia, 15, said Mahmudul Alam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Polashbari Police Station.
Mahamudur developed extramarital affairs with Goffar’s wife when he was abroad.
 “Goffar came to know the matter as he returned home from Malaysia recently. Goffar and his son Shahinur stabbed Mahamudur when he went their house. Mahamudur died on the spot,” the OC said.
Besides, another person was stabbed to death allegedly by his brother-in-law over land dispute at Daripara village in Sherpur Sadar upazila yesterday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Abdul Hye, 55, locals said.
 “Hye and his brother-in-law Ashraf Ali, had been at loggerheads over the ownership of a piece of land. At ones stage, Ashraf Ali hit Abdul Hye near his house with a sharp weapon around 6:00 am, leaving him critically injured. Later, he was rushed to Sherpur District Hospital where doctors declared him dead,” they said.
