Law enforcers arrested an Additional Secretary of the government on the charge of torturing his wife allegedly for dowry on Saturday night.
Police picked up Zakir Hossain from the city’s Bailey Road after getting help call from 999.
Police sources said that Additional Secretary Zakir Hossain was made Officer on Special Duty (OSD) recently.
On Saturday night, the wife of Zakir Hossain dialed 999 and complained that she was tortured by her husband for dowry. Later, police arrested him.
A case was filed against him under the Women and Children Oppression Prevention Act.
Meanwhile, wife Fatema was admitted to One-stop Crisis Centre (OCC) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Monirul islam, Officer-in-Charge of Ramna Police Station confirmed the matter to the media.
