Three people sustained burn injuries in an explosion at a house in the city’s Rampura area on Friday afternoon.
The victims were identified as Ashraful Islam, 25, a 2nd year student of Govt Titumir College, Ashrafee, 8, and her aunt Tanzila Akter Shila, 13.
Ashraful teaches at local Khaleda Haidar High
School while Ashrafee is a Class-VII student and Tanzila a Class-VII student of the school.
Locals said Ashrafee and Shila went to the house of Ashraful, who tutors them, at Paschim Ulon Road.
The entire room, where they were taking lesson, went up in flames around 3:45pm when Shila struck a match, leaving the trio injured. They were rushed to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
