3 projects of Tk 270.61cr get ECNEC nod

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) on Tuesday approved three development projects involving Tk 270.61 crore, including one to formulate and conserve land survey and records through digital method with an outlay of Tk 92.78 crore.
The approval came from an Ecnec meeting held at the NEC conference room at city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar with Ecnec Chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said all the three development projects will be implemented with funds from the national exchequer. State Minister for Finance and Planning MA Mannan was present at the briefing.
He said, the revised ‘Formulation and Conservation of Land Survey and Records through digital method (1st phase: Computerisation of the existing Mouja maps and mutations (Khatians)) will be implemented by the Ministry of Land at a cost of Tk 92.78 crore.
Under this project, Mustafa Kamal said, some 4,58,43,404 mutations (Khatians) in the record rooms of 55 districts will be preserved and provided to land owners easily through using ICT technology.
As a result, he hoped, it would be possible to render desired services to the common people.
The Ecnec meeting approved a new project, titled ‘procurement of 40-foot long air-breathing and gas-fired fire fighting training gallery and deficit fire fighting rescue equipment at Tk 54.35 crore.
Fire Service and Civil Defense Directorate under the Ministry of Home Affairs will implement the project by June 2016.
Replying to a question, the Planning Minister said the government is looking forward towards setting up of fire stations in each upazila across the country while one or more fire stations could be set up in developed upazilas having more growth centers.
Another new project, he said, for creating more awareness among people about fire fighting will be undertaken in the future.
The Ecnec meeting gave nod to another revised project, titled ‘Upgradation of Signboard-Morelganj-Rayenda-Shoronkhola-Bogi road into a ‘regional highway’ with Tk 123.48 crore, which will be completed by June 2016 with fund entirely from the government.
Roads and Highways Department under the Ministry of Communications will implement the project to upgrade the 52.15-km road into a regional highway aimed at ensuring improved road connectivity in the region.
