Three members of the same family were killed in a collision between a pickup and an unidentified vehicle at Trishal in Mymensingh. Another was injured at the time.
The accident took place at the Raymoni area on the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway in Trishal around 11:45 pm on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Aminul Islam Amanu, his sister Nazma Khatun and Nazma’s daughter Lalmoni. All of them were hailing from Bagher Char village in Sherpur Sadar upazila, said police.
Trishal police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Main Uddin said the incident took place when an unidentified vehicle collided with a pickup truck. The deceased were on their way to Dhaka from Sherpur in the driver’s seat in the eggplant-laden pickup truck. The body has been kept at the police station. When the relatives of the deceased come, the body will be handed over to them, he added.
Munim Sarwar, station officer of Trishal Fire Service, said the fire service rescued the victims. The driver of the pickup has been sent to the Upazila Health Complex in critical condition.
The accident took place when the driver of the extra-speed pickup lost control and hit the back of the vehicle, police informed.
