Three passengers of an auto-rickshaw were killed and two others injured as a bus hit the vehicle on Dhaka-Bogra Highway at Mokamtola in Shibganj upazila here on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Lilu Mia, 25, son of Noimuddin, Aiyub Ali, 24, son of Chand Mia, and
Abdur Rahim, 25, of Badiachara village in the upazila.
Sub-inspector Shamim Akhtar, in-charge of Mokamtola Police investigation Centre, said the accident took place around 6pm when a Bogra town-bound bus from Dinajpur crashed into the three-wheeler at Mokamtola’s Muradpur on the highway, killing three auto-rickshaw passengers on spot and injuring two others.
The injured were admitted to a local clinic.
On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to hospital morgue. Police seized the bus, but its driver fled the scene, the SI added.
