Police yesterday arrested three alleged terrorists with a single barrel gun and 16 cartridges as they opened fire at Karaldanga Union Parisad (UP) chairman of Boalkhali upazila Hamidul Hoque Mannan yesterday.
A pedestrian Mohammad Ishak received the bullet injury during the shooting, police said. Liton Das, 38, Farhad Alam, 26 and Balaram Das, 29, of Karaldanga union were arrested for the shootout when local people caught them red handed with the gun and cartridges and handed over them to the police.
Shamsul Alam, Officer in Charge (OC) of Boalkhali police station said the terrorists wanted to shot down UP Chairman when he was returning home after distributing Jakat clothes in the morning.
