Police detained three persons, including a woman, from the city’s Uttara area on Sunday midnight on charges of cheating people identifying themselves as members of Detective Branch (DB) of Police.
The detained persons are: Abu Bakar Sultan, Jahidur Rahman and Ruma Akhter, said Ali Hossain Khan, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Uttara West Police Station.
He said that, the members of the gang have been cheating people for long identifying themselves as officials of DB police.
“Acting on tip-off, police raided the residence and detained them at around 12:00am. In primary interrogation, they revealed identity of some members of the gang. Drive is underway to nab the others,” the police official said.
A case has been filed with the police station against the detained persons, he said.
