Three Bangladeshi young entrepreneurs have clinched “Professional Fellows Exchange Program 2016 (October Round)” fellowship under the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of US State Department. The US Embassy in Dhaka and the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development at BRAC University announced the names at a pre-departure orientation programme held at the GDLN Centre, BRAC University in the city on Monday.
An in-depth discussion along with questions and answers sessions were also held during the orientation.The three participants are: Naureen Ayesha, Co-Founder & Head of Operation at HAUS, Zahid Hossain Khan, Co-founder at Moner Bondhu and Niloy Das, Chief Executive Officer at Surge Engeeneeing. Shamim E Haque, Assistant Professor, BRAC Business School and Programme Coordinator, CED announced the names and replied various queries of the fellows regarding the programme.Prof. Dr. Rahim B Talukdar, Adviser, BRAC Business School and former Fellows of Professional Exchange Programme, AZM Saif, Syed Rabius Shams, Ratul Dev and Singer Joy Shahriar also attended the event. The fellowship is hosted by the University of Oklahoma’s Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication and teamed up with the Center for the Creation of Economic Wealth (CCEW).
Elanie Steyn, co-director of the program and associate professor at the University of Oklahoma also joined the session through Skype and said the exchange programme will inject Bangladeshi, Burmese and Indian mid-level emerging leaders into working small businesses in Oklahoma and associate them with one of America’s leading universities. According to Elanie the programme will provide professional experience and training that will nurture participants’ talent and prepare them for more responsible leadership positions in their businesses, communities and society in general as they return to their countries. Besides, the programme will provide US-based small business stakeholders an opportunity to collaborate with their Bangladeshi, Burmese and Indian counterparts as they participate in a two-week outbound exchange to the respective countries in April or May.
The fellows, who will visit the US from October 20 to November 20, were selected following a strict three-fold scrutiny from Bangladesh.The programme will provide professional experience and training that will nurture participants’ talent and prepare them for more responsible leadership positions in their businesses, communities and society in general as they return to their countries.
