3 Bangladeshi UN peacekeepers injured in CAR

BSS, Dhaka :Three members of Bangladesh Battalion (BANBAT) was injured when a rebel group ambushed a convoy of the peacekeepers of the United Nations Multinational Integrated Mission in Central African Republic (MINUSCA) on Thursday.The incident took place around 1.5 kilometre away from a MINUSCA transit camp around 6.05pm, an ISPR press release said here yesterday. The convoy was coming back from MINUSCA Force Headquarters.The injured are Sainik M Iqbal Hossain son of M Golam Mostafa, of 18 BIR, hailed from Mukundpur village of Satkhira district, Sainik Jasim Uddin son of M Hasan Ali, of 29 BIR,hailed from Naltona village under Salia police station in Barguna district and Sainik Moazzem Hussain, son of Abdul Malek, of 23 East Bengal, hailed from Murafata village in Jhalakathi district. They are now in stable condition, the release added. Among them, critically injured Sainik M Iqbal Hossain was immediately evacuated to a French hospital at MPOKO camp, while two others were given medical treatment by Bangladesh Medical (BANMED) hospital. In the incident, a Pakistani Peacekeeper was killed and five others were injured. Deputy force Commander of MINUSCA Major General S M Shafiuddin Ahmed, of Bangladesh was in the convoy and he was unhurt, safe and sound.
