Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested 24 alleged human traffickers and rescued 37 victims from different parts of the city on Tuesday night.
The elite force members also recovered ransom Tk six lakh and seized a huge number of passports, fake visas and fake visa making materials from them, RAB official said.
Commander Mufti Mahmud Khan, Director of the Legal and Media Wing of the RAB Headquarters, said this to the reporters at Media Center at Kawranbazar on Wednesday morning, “A team of RAB-3 conducted separate drives at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Uttara, Motijheel and Old Dhaka areas and arrested them.”
Among the victims, 10 people were being trafficked to Malaysia illegally, the RAB official said. The rest 27 people were deported from Libya after they had been trafficked to the country illegally, he said.
The arrested men are being interrogated in this connection, he said.
Legal actions have been taken against the detained men.
