Twenty three mobile courts will start operation in cattle markets at Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) areas from today to check setting up of cattle markets on roads, taking additional amount on hasil (charge) and some other irregularities and also ensure security.
“Best possible security measures have been taken in and around the cattle markets at DMP areas by deploying policemen in large numbers. Twenty three mobile courts will start operation from today to make the security foolproof,” DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia told BSS.
The mobile courts have been entrusted with the task of removing cattle markets from the roads to ease the traffic movement, check collecting additional money on hasil (charge that buyers pay on the price of the purchase) and other irregularities at the cattle markets, he also said.
A total of seven mobile courts at Dhaka North City Corporation, 10 at Dhaka South City Corporation and six mobile courts under the supervision of Dhaka’s deputy commissioner will start operating at the DMP areas from today.
Money escort services will also be provided at the cattle markets, the DMP chief said adding that police have been asked to maintain a strict vigil on the cattle markets to stop snatching and mugging.
The police commissioner called upon all to remain alert and careful of the cheats.
