Masakadza sets up emphatic victory for Zimbabwe

A brilliant knocks by Hamilton Masakadza saw Zimbabwe to record an emphatic seven wickets victory over Afghanistan in the warm-up match held on Friday at the MA Aziz Stadium here.
Chasing Afghanistan’s competitive 168 runs Zimbabwe strolled in the target making 173 in 19.3 overs for the loss of three wickets.
Opener Masakdza led from the front with an impressive 93 runs off 52 balls, cracking seven over boundaries and five boundaries while another opener Sikandar Raza supported with 27 runs off 24- balls with the help of three boundaries.
Besides, Hamza Hotak, Shapoor Zadran and Shapoor Zadran took one wicket each conceding 28, 32 and 40 runs respectively.
Earlier, Afghanistan scored a healthy total of 168 for 6 from their allotted 20 overs, after they were forced to bat first by Zimbabwe.
Middle order batsman Shafiqullah scored 31 runs while opener Najeeb Tarakai contributed 29 for Afghanistan.
Natsai M’shangwe and Sean Williams were the pick of Zimbabwe bowlers taking two wickets each giving away 19 and 33 runs respectively. They were well supported by Hamilton Masakadza and Tafadzwa Kamungozi, who both took one wicket giving away 24 and 28 runs respectively.
