BNP-led 20-party alliance formed its rescheduled human chain programme in the city on Tuesday protesting enforced disappearances of its leaders and activists. Leaders and activists of the 20-party combine formed the human chain from Bijoynagar Nightingale crossing to Fakirerpool crossing (near Rajarbagh Police Lines Hospital) around 11.00am, which concluded around 12.00pm. Earlier on Saturday, the 20-party alliance rescheduled its human chain programme for Tuesday as the government denied it permission for holding it as it coincided with a ruling party rally. As part of its countrywide programme, the BNP-led alliance was also scheduled to form a human chain in the city at noon, marking the ’International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearance. The authorities of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) gave the party permission for the human chain programme, BNP’s Dhaka city unit member secretary Habibun Nabi Khan Sohel told UNB on Sunday night. – UNB, Dhaka.
