A joint team of police on Sunday night arrested two more persons from North Lautlia village in Noakhali in connection with the seven killings in Narayanganj. The arrestees are Mahidullah Masud, 35, driver and Samrat, 20, brothet-in-law of Nur Hossain.Narayanaganj Police Super Dr Khandaker Muhid Uddin on Sunday claimed that they had made a remarkable progress in the investigation into the seven killings but those were invisible.A total 21 people have so far been arrested in connection with the killings of seven people, including Narayanganj City panel mayor Nazrul Islam and senior alawyer Chandan Kumar Sarker.Meanwhile, Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury visited the houses of the seven victims and talked to the family members. She also consoled the family members.Deputy Commissioner Anisur Rahman Miah, Police Super Dr Khandaker Muhid Uddin and Sadar UNO Gauisul Azam accompanied the minister. Our Narayanganj Correspondent adds: A Narayanganj court yesterday granted seven-day remand for Mahibulla, a driver of Nur Hossain, the prime accused of the sensational seven-murder.The court also placed Samrat, a brother-in-law of Mahibullah, on a two-day remand in the same case.Senior Judicial Magistrate Chadni Rupam granted the remand after the members of Detective Branch (DB) of police produced the duo, who was arrested in Noakhali last night, in connection with the abduction and murders.On April 27, some people abducted Narayanganj City `Corporation councilor and panel mayor Nazrul Islam and his four associates with their car.Senior lawyer Chandan Sarker and his driver, who were following the abductors, were also kidnapped the same time from the Dhaka-Narayanganj link road.A day after the abduction, Nazrul’s wife Selina Islam filed an abduction case accusing Nur, Iqbal, Hashu, Siddhirganj AL leader Haji Yasin, Aminul Islam Raju and Anwar Hossain. Six bodies, including that of Nazrul and Chandan, were found floating in the Shitalakkhya river on April 30, and another was found the following day.
