2 injured in polls clash

At least two people were injured in a clash at a polling center in Luhagara in Chittagong when the supporters of two opposition locked in a chase and counter chase over occupy the polling center the second phase of Upazilla poll on yesterday. Several rounds of bullets and cocktails were blast on that time.
The injured are Yasir Arafat and Jahangir Alam. They are the supporters of Moyazem Hossain Chowdury.
Source said, the incident took place between the supporters of Moyazem Hossain Chowdury, candidate of BNP backed Jammat and LDP backed present chairman Ziaul Haque Chowdury near Pantrishaw Primary School soon after the voting for the upazila poll started at the centre in the morning.
Presiding officer of the polling center Md. Ali Zinnah said, casting vote was halted about half an hour after the incident.”
Invigilator of mobile court of that area Abdus Salam said, the situation has been brought under control after the incident of firing outside the polling center in the area and members of police and army are patrolling the area.
No candidate was competing here from ruling Awami League in this election area. That’s why the supporters of AL and BNP were casting voted supporting the LDP candidate Ziaul Haque to protest Jammat.
