The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka yesterday (Sunday) placed three persons, including two physicians, on a two-day remand each in a case filed for the death of two newborn babies in a private hospital due to medical negligence.
Magistrate Jahangir Hossain of the CMM Court passed the order after hearing on a remand plea of Mohammadpur Police Station SI Kamruzzaman seeking five days’ remand of the accused.
The accused persons are Managing Director Abdullah Al Ahad, Chief Consultant (Newborn) Dr Shishir Ranjan Das, and Medical Officer Dr Aftab Uddin of Asian Cardiac and General Hospital, located in Block B of Lalmatia in the city. Earlier, the SI of the police station arrested the accused and produced them in the court with remand prayer to interrogate them about the incident.
Three newborn babies died in the private hospital on Friday night allegedly for medical negligence.
