19 houses gutted by fire in 3 dists; 10 hurt

At least 19 houses have been gutted in separate incidents of fire in Laxmipur and Sirajganj districts, and Dhamrail upazila of Dhaka, leaving 10 people injured.
In Laxmipur, at least 12 houses were destroyed as a fire broke out in West Bottali area of Sadar upazila on Friday noon.
The fire erupted at the house of Belal Hossain from an electrical short circuit at noon and it soon engulfed the adjoined ones, said Mohammad Salauddin, station manager of Laxmipur Fire Service.
On information, a fire-fighting unit rushed in and brought the fire under control after two hours of frantic efforts.
Three people, including Monwara Begum and Abul Kaher, suffered injuries while extinguishing the fire. They were admitted to Laxmipur sadar hospital.
The affected families claimed that the losses caused by the fire could exceed Tk 50 lakh.
In Sirajganj, at least five houses were burned down and seven people injured as a fire broke out at Gouripur village in Tarash upazila on Thursday night.
Witnesses said the fire broke out at the house of farmer Solaiman around 11pm and engulfed the adjoined four other houses.
Seven people sustained burn injuries while dousing the blaze.
In Dhamrai, three cattle were burned to death and two houses gutted in a fire that erupted at Baichail village on Friday noon.
