11th National Parliamentary election: 16 MP aspirant candidates seek AL nomination from Mymensingh-3

With the announcement of the schedule for national election schedule there is widespread discussion among the people of Gouripur Upazila who are to vie for the parliamentary seat.
Mymensingh-3 constituency consists of only Gouripur upazila. 16 aspiring candidates from AL are running in the race for party nomination for the upcoming parliament elections. Sixteen AL hopefuls who bought party nomination papers from AL party office are staying in Dhaka to get the party nomination.
On Wednesday, these aspirant candidates were called for an interview by the parliamentary board The aspirant candidates are present MP Freedom Fighter Nazim Uddin Ahmed, central leader and district AL Organising Secretary Krishibid Dr. Shameul Alam Liton; agriculture and cooperative affairs district AL Secretary Principal A.K.M Abdur Rafique; , ex-Principal of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital and an Advisor to district AL committee Prof. Dr Matiur Rahman , General Secretary of district Krishak League GM Babul (VP Babul), district AL Member Naznin Alam; former district Chhatra League General Secretary and district AL Organizing Secretary Sharif Hasan Anu; central leader Murshedujjaman Selim; former upazila Chairman Ali Ahmed Khan Salvee ; former upazila AL President Freedom Fighter Adv. Abul Kalam Azad; present Mayor Syed Rafiqul Islam; upazila AL Vice President Alhaj Principal Ruhul Amin, upazila Vice Chairman Rabeya Islam Doly; actress Jyotika Jyoti; AL leader Abu Kawsar Chowdhury Ronty; and AL leader M A Mamun.
In the meantime, the aspiring candidates are drawing the attention and blessings of the voters in social media. It has been triggering tension among the nomination-seekers. Present lawmaker Freedom Fighter Nazim Uddin Ahmed said to the New Nation he was confident about winning party nomination as he was the most senior leader of the party. His supporters also said the party should nominate him so that he can finish the unfinished projects initiated by him.
Krishibid Dr. Shameul Alam Liton said, “I am hopeful of winning if I get the party ticket to contest the election,” His supporters also said he had kept himself always busy with development activities for the people of this constituency and he had also been financially helping the poor people, local clubs, institutions and religious organizations.
Ex VP of Bangladesh Agricultural University. Principal Dr. A.K.M Abdur Rafique said, “There are large numbers of nomination seekers who do not have any political background, no such person will be nominated and our party leader Sheikh Hasina is uncompromising in this regard.” and added that he is involved in social and political activities and he has already started campaigning in the area for a long time.
An advisor to District AL committee Prof. Dr. Motiur Rahman is also working hard in the field. He has been campaigning in many areas of locality ahead of the national election.
“I have kept myself busy with development activities for the people of my locality,” District AL leader GM Babul told the New Nation adding, “If Awami league nominates me, I am certain I shall win as I have kept myself busy with development activities for the people of my locality,”
Former assist general secretary of central committee of Bangabandhu Foundation and district AL member Naznin Alam is visible in election campaign in the field. She wants to participate in the election with the boat symbol. “If Awami League gives me the nomination, I am certain of my victory,” said Naznin, who has been involved in development activities in his area for a long time.
Former upazila AL president Freedom Fighter Adv. Abul Kalam Azad has been expecting nomination from AL in the upcoming national election.
Sources also said some leaders of the area have been trying to come closer to the PM and win her blessings to get “green signal” Jyotika Jyoti, who is an actress, said she was interested to run in this election and that she would seek nomination from the party.
The party leaders also said that Awami league focused on an election with participation of everyone and for this they need qualified candidates. Those who are not following the direction of the party chief Sheikh Hasina will not get the nomination.
