13 more killed in road accidents

At least 13 more persons were killed and 70 others critically injured in separate road crashes across the country on Sunday.
In Kushtia, at least four persons including a Sub-Inspector of Police were killed and 30 others injured in separate road crashes on Sunday.
At Khoksa, two persons were killed and 30 others injured when a bus plunged into a roadside ditch on the Kushtia-Rajbari Highway in Mirzapur area after its driver lost control over the steering.
The deceased were identified as Mahtab Uddin, 50, and Abdul Kader, 65, both were bus passengers.ABM Mehedi Masud, Officer-in-Charge of Khoksa Police, confirmed the matter to media.
At Mirpur, a motorcyclist named Masud Hossain, 50, son of Mosharraf Hossain of Purba Majampur area in Kushtia, was killed when a bus rammed his bike in Bottoli area of Mirpur upazila at 9:00am on Sunday.
At Bhadalia, a Sub-Inspector (SI) of police named Masud (45) was killed in a road accident in Kushtia’s Bhadalia area.
The accident occurred on Sunday on the Kushtia-Jhenaidah road around 3:30 pm. The deceased Masud was the inhabitant Rajbari district.
He was working in Kushtia Model Police Station.
Kushtia Model Police Station SI Atiqur Rahman told the news media.
In Natore, at least three persons were killed in separate road crashes in Natore on Sunday.
At Baraigram, two died and 40 others including 20 school students were seriously injured when
a bus collided with a truck in Baraigram upazila of Natore early Sunday.
The accident occurred around 9:30am.
The truck driver was among the deceased, said a source.
Bonpara Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Alim Hossain Shikder confirmed the matter to media.
At Singra, a young man named Fazlu Sheikh (18) was killed in a head-on collision between a battery-driven van and a motorcycle at Sherokol in Singra upazila of Natore. Two others were injured in the incident.
The accident took place on Sunday near the Sherkol Bridge around 2:15 pm.
Singra Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Monirul Islam told the news media.
In Chattogram, at least two people including an examinee of Primary Education Completion (PEC) named Esha Akhter, 12, and female garment worker Meherun Akhter, 26, were killed in separate road accidents in Patia upazila and Bandar area of Chattogram in the morning.
Sub-Inspector Alauddin Talukder of Chottagram Medical College and Hospital outpost confirmed the news that the accident occurred when a bus rammed Esha Akhter, daughter of Didarul Islam of Bininihara area, while she was waiting for a vehicle in front Chilashah Market in Patia upazila around 9:00am, leaving her critically injured.
Meherun Akhter was killed when a bus struck her in Majhirpara area at 7:15am while she was going to her workplace, said Jahirul Haque, Office in-Charge of the CMCH Police Outpost.
In Cumilla, an elderly woman named Monwara Begum (60) was killed when a covered van rammed her at Chodagram of the district. The accident occurred at Chouddagram Bazar on Sunday afternoon.
Monwara Begum was the wife of late Bahar Mia of North Sreepur village. Imam Uddin, in-charge of Chouddagram Fire Service said the news media.
In Panchagarh, a motorcyclist named Rabiul Islam Rubel (35) was killed in a road crash when a microbus rammed him in Tentulia upazila of the district.
Tentulia Highway Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Kamolakanta confirmed the incident to media.
In Bagerhat, a motorcyclist named Zahid Hossain (40) was killed when a Nosimon hit him in Fakirhat of the district.
Officer-in-Charge of Katakhali Highway Police Station Mouloy Das told the news to media.
In Bhola, a child named Mariam (7) died when a autorickshaw hit her in Bedoria union of Sadar Upazila.
The accident occurred on Sunday at West Charkali Madrasa Road. In-Charge of the Velumia Police Investigation Center, Arman Hossain told the news to media.
