13 allegations against 19 Cox’s Bazar ‘Razakars’

The investigation agency of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has finalised probe report on allegations against 19 war crimes suspects of Cox’s Bazar.
In the report, some 13 allegations, including genocide, arson attack, confinement, abduction, torture and force deportation were brought against them.
The accused include- Salamat Ullah Khan, 77, Abdur Rashid Miah, 83, and Maulavi Jakaria Sikdar, 78, Shamsuddoha, 82, Oli Ahmad, 58, Jalal Uddin alias Jalal Ahmed, 63, Jinnat Ali, 58, Osman Gani, 61, Nurul Islam, 61, Badshah Miah, 73, Moulovi Jalal, 75, Abdul Aziz, 58, Moulovi Nurul Islam, 61, Md Saiful alias Sabul, 53, Momtaz Ahmed, 60, Habibur Rahman alias Habib Munshi, 70, Moulovi Amjad Ali, 70, Abdul Mazid, 85, Abdus Shukur, 65, and Md Zakaria, 58. Chief coordinator of the Probe agency Abdul Hannan and senior coordinator Sanaul Haque Mia informed the matters at probe body’s office at Dhanmondi on Thursday.
In the press conference, Abdul Hannan said the accused were involved in Muslim League and Nezam-e-Islam during liberation war in 1971. Salamat Ullah Khan was their leader in committing crimes against humanity.
Of them, six accused — Salamat, Rashid, Nurul Islam, Badshah, Osman Gani, Jinnat — are in jail and Moulovi Shamsuddoha died at prison. Rests of 12 accused are on the run.
Senior coordinator Snaul Haque said the final report will be submitted to the prosecution within Thursday. As per the report, prosecution will prepare the formal charge and then submit to the tribunal. A 137-page document has been added in the 111-page probe report, he added. During the investigation, 126 people gave their testimonies against the accused, he also said.
