Capacity Building and Youth Entrepreneurship Project launched at DU

A pilot project titled “Capacity Building of Universities in Bangladesh to Promote Youth Entrepreneurship” was launched on Saturday at the central playground of Dhaka University (DU) as a part of DU centenary celebrations. Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship Center (ICE) of DU and University Grants Commission (UGC) will jointly implement this project with the financial assistance from Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to undertake entrepreneurship education and develop innovative skills at Dhaka University.
DU VC Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman presided over the inaugural function while Planning Minister M. A. Mannan M.P and Korean Ambassador Mr. Lee Jang-keun were present as Chief Guest and Guest of Honor respectively. Secretary of Secondary and Higher Education Md. Mahbub Hossain, UGC Member Prof. Dr. Abu Taher, BUET VC Prof. Dr. Satya Prasad Majumder, DU Pro-VC (Academic) Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal and DU Business Studies Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abdul Moyeen were present as special guests in the function. The function was also addressed by Country Director of KOICA Mr. Doh Young-Ah, Project Manager Mr. Derik Kim, Vice-Chairman of DU ICE Prof. Dr. Khondoker Bazlul Hoque, DUTA President Prof. Dr. Md. Rahmat Ullah and Executive Director of ICE Md. Rashedur Rahman.
Planning Minister M. A. Mannan said, Bangladesh and South Korea have been enjoying friendly relations for a long time. Korea has been providing support and cooperation to our education and other sectors. This “Capacity Building of Universities in Bangladesh to Promote Youth Entrepreneurship” project would equip our students with the knowledge of creativity and entrepreneurship, he hoped.
DU VC Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman said that this pilot project would play an effective role for capacity building of young generation on innovation and entrepreneurship. Academic and research activities as well as networking and relationship will be further strengthened among the University of Dhaka and universities in Korea through this project. He thanked the Korean Government specially KOICA authorities for providing support and cooperation to this Pilot Project.
Ambassador Mr. Lee Jang-keun said, this pilot project is the symbol of existing friendly relations between Bangladesh and South Korea. The bilateral relations between the two countries would be further strengthened through implementation of this project, he added.
