120 Shibir activists sued over campus clash in Port City

Police overnight sued 120 Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS) activists here over the clashes on the Victory Day which also prompted authorities to vacate dormitories of two major colleges in the port city.
Police said they so far arrested 14 of 18 identified ICS activists who were found to have triggered the clash and described as “unidentified” the remaining 100 workers of the extreme rightwing student group.
A police officer familiar with the process said they were charged in two cases, one under the Arms Act and the other under the Explosives Act.
Police and witnesses said the violence erupted at around 12.30 pm as ICS activists emerged in the scene when the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists rallied on the Chittagong College campus for the Victory day celebrations, leaving five people wounded.
The Chittagong College authorities asked imamates of all their dormitories, three for male and one for the female students, following the incident.
In an identical manner, authorities of the nearby Mohsin College subsequently shut for indefinite period their two dormitories asking inmates to leave the hostels by this morning.
