Ex-Minister Ruhal, Mahbub summoned by ACC

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Wednesday summoned former Health Minister Dr Ruhal Haque and State Minister for Water Resources Mahbubur Rahman in the commission’s office, said sources in ACC.
Mahbubur Rahman has been asked to appear on February 23 and Dr Ruhal Haque on February 24.
They will be questioned them about their huge wealth beyond their known sources
in last five years, sources said.
Ruhal and his wife had Tk 92.38 lakh in their bank accounts in 2008 as per statement submitted to the Election Commission. But in five years the amount increased to Tk 10.15 crore incredibly. Apart from it, the valuation of his movable and immovable wealth was shown Tk four crore in 2008 and Tk 16 crore in 2013.
Mahbub acquired 865 acres of land in five years. Whereas he had 20 acres only under his possession in 2008. The value of his properties has been shown as Tk 5. 24 crore in the affidavit submitted during the 10th parliamentary election and Tk 36.33 lakh during the 9th parliamentary election. The value of the properties of his wife has been shown Tk 1. 26 crore in 2013 and Tk 5 lakh in 2008 respectively.
In 2008, his annual income was Tk. 2.15 lakh from a part time business. But now he earns Tk 1.5 crore from fishery project and Tk 20. 34 lakh from other sources. Besides, his dependents earn Tk 95 thousand annually, he said in his affidavits.
