At least eleven more persons were killed and several others were critically injured in separate road crashes across the country on Tuesday.
In Chapainawabganj, at least two persons were killed when a truck hit a motorcycle in front of Horticulture Centre in the district town around 8:30am.
Instantly after the incident, locals blocked road for half an hour. On information, police rushed in and brought the situation under control, Golam Mostafa, Sub Inspector of Sadar Model Police Station told media.
The deceased were identified as Mizanur Rahman Polash, 32, son of Jalal Uddin of Gomostapur Upazila, and Moshiur Rahman, 31, son of Salah Uddin.
In Chattogram, two auto-rickshaw passengers were killed when a lorry ran over the vehicle at EPZ intersection in the port city.
The accident took place around 3:30am as a lorry turned turtle on the road at EPZ intersection and ran over an auto-rickshaw, leaving its two passengers injured critically, said Jasim Uddin, Assistant Director of Chattogram Fire Service and Civil Defence.
In Comilla, at least two people were killed in a road accident at Putia area in Daudkandi upazila of the district. Three others were injured in the incident.
The accident occurred around 4:30 pm on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway on Tuesday. Among the deceased, one Jasim (30), a fruit trader, was identified.. Jasim was the son of Renu Mia from Keshabpur village of Titas upazila. Eliotganj Highway Police in charge Monirul Islam told the news media.
In Feni, a Madrasa student named Hafiz Zahidul Islam (20),was killed in a road accident when a truck rammed him at Fultola of the district on Tuesday.
The accident happened at Kalabagan on the Feni-Paroshuram Regional Road on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Jahidul Islam, son of Shafiqur Rahman of Fulgazi Sadar Union Gabatala village. He read in second year of the Munshirhat Islamia Fazil Madrasa.
In Naogaon, a local fish trader named Abdul Khalek (35) was killed in a road accident in Mandha of the district.
The deceased Abdul Khaleque was the son of Mozammel Haque of Parchulhara Fisheries Para. The incident happened around 3pm on Monday on the Pargarbanga-Jalkhatra road of the upazila.
Manda Police Station OC Muzaffar Hossain confirmed the incident to mwdia.
In Jenaidah, a motorcyclist named Ali Hossain died in a road crash while going to visit his new Father In-laws house in Khaliganj Upazila of the district.
The incident occurred at Mahmudpur Bottola in Kaliganj of Jhenaidah around 11pm on Tuesday. Officer of Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex Chompa Moduk confirmed the news media.
In Tangail, a pedestrian named Mahindra Sarkar (60) was killed in a road crash when a truck rammed him from the backside at Suratail area in Kalihati upazila of Tangail. The accident happened around 5:30 am on Tuesday.
In Mymensing, A schoolboy named Jakirul Islam died in a accident when a trolley hit him in Phulpur of the district.
The incident took place on Tuesday noon in front of Chililagai Government Primary School. Officer-in-charge of Fulpur Police Station Mohammad Badrul Alam Khan told media.
In Kurigram, a SSC candidate named Safi (17) died in a road accident near the Jadupoddar Bridge in Ulipur Municipality of Kurigram.
The deceased was identified as Safi Ulipur, son of Nur Islam of Jonaidanga village.
Ulipur Municipality panel Mayor Sohrab Hossain confirmed the death of Safi to media.
