12 hurt in DU BCL rival clash

Two groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall unit of Dhaka University (DU) on Thursday locked in a clash over establishing supremacy in the hall, left at least 12 students injured.
The injured students were sent to DU Medical Center for treatment.
Sources said, hall administration allowed former President of hall unit Nipa to stay in the hall and General Secretary Mishori is not allowed to enter in the hall. Shima Islam, a house tutor, protested such behaviour of the hall administration few days ago. The hall authorities suspended Shima Islam from the hall.
Yesterday, the followers of hall unit President Khadizatul Kobra and General Secretary Sheikh Marufa Nabila involved in a quarrel. Former President of hall unit Nipa was present there. At one stage, they hurled abusive words at each other. Sheikh Marufa Nabila’s supporters hit Khadizatul Kobra’s followers. At least 12 students from both groups were injured in the one hour clash.
Later, DU Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration), DU Acting Proctor AM Amzad, DU Assistant Proctor Dr Aftab Ali Sheikh, BCL DU unit President Mehedi Hasan and General Secretary Omar Sharif rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
