Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized some 1,120 bottles of Phensidyl syrup from bordering Chhiattardighi area in Shibganj upazila recently.
Tipped off that a gang of smugglers was entering Bangladesh through Kironganj border along with contraband drugs, a team of the border force conducted a drive there around 12:15am, said Ltd Col SM Salahuddin, commanding officer of BGB Battalion-59.
Sensing the presence of the paramilitary force members, the smugglers fled towards India leaving behind Phensidyl syrup, he said. Later, the BGB members recovered those.
