Staff Reporter :At least 11 shanties were gutted as fire broke out at a slum beside the city’s Tejgaon Railway Colony area on Sunday evening.However, no causalities were reported in the fire incident.The fire originated from a kerosene oven of a shanty around 6:00pm but the losses could not be ascertained instantly, said Inspector Atiqul Alam Chowdhury of Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters.On information, eight fire fighting units from different adjoining areas rushed to the spot and doused the flame around 6:45pm, the official said.Sattaki Kabiraj, Assistant Commissioner of Tejgaon Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said that additional police personnel were deployed in the area to avert any untoward incident.
