11 held with 1.61 lakh Yaba tablets in Teknaf

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in separate drives arrested 11 people, including three Myanmarese citizens, along with 1,61,075 pieces of Yaba tablet in Teknaf upazila here early Thursday.
BGB Battalion-42 commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Abu Jar Al Zahid said on a tip-off that two boats carrying a consignment of Yaba tablets was coming through the Naf River from Myanmar, a team of the border force conducted a raid on the Naf River and challenged three Myanmar nationals while they reached the river bank by two boats at about 4:30am.
At one stage, the border force arrested the trio from the boats.
Later, the BGB members recovered 1,25,200 pieces of Yaba tablet in two packs after searching the boats.
The estimated market value of the Yaba tablets is Tk3.75 crore, Abu Jar added.
Meanwhile, BGB members in another drive arrested two people along with 5,077 pieces of Yaba tablet worth Tk 15.23 lakh from Shilbunia Para in the upazila at about 1:00 am.
Besides, another team of the border force arrested six people, including an alleged robber named Enam, from Nazirpara area in the upazila at about 3:30 am.
They also recovered one pistol, one rounds of bullet and 30,798 pieces of Yaba tablet from their possession.
