Staff Reporter :One person was killed and five others including a woman and her minor son, received injuries as a bus turned turtle at Karwan Bazar intersection in city at about 6:00pm on Wednesday.Witnesses said, the accident took place on the road in front of a local hotel when two speedy buses tried to overtake one another.One of the injured people died on the way to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital. Four were identified as Parul, 28, her son Ashfaq,3, Ibrahim Noman,26, and Awal Bepari, 50. Sub-inspector of Tejgaon Police Station Sujit Kumar Saha confirmed the casualties, but could not confirm the identity of the deceased immediately.Some witnesses, however, said that the victim was the helper of the bus.Witnesses said, “Three buses of Nagar Paribahan started virtually racing from Farmgate area finding the roads near empty following Shab-e-Barat holiday. “The bus running in the front lost control and hit the road divider and finally overturned,” he said. Police seized the bus and arrested its driver. Vehicular movement on the road remained suspended temporarily.
