Zia Trust case hearing now on Feb 16

The Special Judge Court-3 of Dhaka on Thursday adjourned the hearing of Zia Orphanage Trust and Zia Charitable Trust graft cases against BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and others till February 16.
Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar of the court passed the order granting a time petition submitted by Khaleda Zia’s lawyers as she was ill and could not appear in the court on Thursday.
A total of 32 witnesses including the Investigation Officer and also the complainant of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Deputy Director Harunur Rashid, testified in the graft case.
The Anti-Corruption Watchdog, ACC filed the Zia Charitable Trust graft case on August 8, 2011, against the BNP Chief and three others for embezzlement of Tk 31.5 million of the Trust abusing their official jurisdiction.
Besides, the ACC sued Khaleda Zia, her son Tarique Rahman and four others on July 3, 2008 for embezzling Taka 2.10 crore brought from abroad and meant to be spent for the orphans.
