Awami League (AL) Presidium Member Jahangir Kabir Nanak said military dictator Ziaur Rahman had served as a Pakistani spy during the Liberation War.
He said these types of spies killed Bangabandhu after independence and later, they passed the Fifth Amendment of the Constitution in Parliament to save the Bangabandhu killers from being brought to justice.
Nanak said this on Monday while addressing as the chief guest a discussion in memory of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib in Zahir Raihan auditorium of the Jahangirnagar University (JU).
Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL)’s JU unit organised the programme on the occasion of the month of mourning, reports BSS.
“Bangabandhu united seven crore Bengalees for liberation war. We got a non-communal Bangladesh for contribution of Bangabandhu and Bangladesh Awami League,” the AL leader said.
He said Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib always gave suggestions to Bangabandhu in every step.
Noting that the anti-liberation forces could not accept independence of Bangladesh, he said after the independence, the evil forces are still active in this country.
State Minister of Disaster Management and Relief Dr Enamur Rahman, JU Vice-Chancellor, BCL President Al Nahian Khan Joy and General Secretary Lekhak Bhattacharjee also spoke at the programme as special guests.
JU Pro-Vice Chancellor (admin) Prof Sheikh Md Monzurul Huq, Treasurer Prof Rasheda Akhtar and Proctor ASM Firoj Ul Hasana were also present, among others.
JU BCL president Akhtaruzzaman Sohel chaired the discussion moderated by its general secretary Habibur Rahman Liton.
