Zia maintains solo lead in Asian Zonal Chess

GM Ziaur Rahman maintained his solo lead in the points table with 6.5 points after 7th round in the open section of the Asian Zonal Chess Championship is now being held in Kathmandu, Nepal.
GM Abdullah Al Rakib placed in second position with 5.5 points whlie GM Niaz Murshed, GM Enamul Hossain, IM Mohammad Minhaz Uddin, FM Sheikh Nasir Ahmed, Niraula Bhupendra and Jaiswal Rupesh of Nepal shared the third position with 4.5 points.
In the women’s section, WIM Shamima Akter Liza maintained her solo lead securing 6 points after the 7th round.
WIM Rani Hamid, WFM Nazrana Khan Eva and WIM Ranasinghe of Sri Lanka are following the leader with 5 points each. In the 7th round games held Tuesday, Zia beat Nasir, Rakib beat IM Abu Sufian Shakil, Niaz split points with Minhaz, Enamul shard points with Bhupendra, Jaiswal beat Kayastha Madan Krishna, CM Sohel Chowdhury split points with Shrestha Keshav of Nepal and FM FM Kh. Aminul Islam drew with FM Debaraj Chatterjee.
In the 7th round games of women’s section, Liza split points with drew with Mahmuda Hoque Chowdhury Moly, Ranasinghe beat Eva, Rani Hamid beat Khamboo Monalisa of Nepal, WFM Sharmin Sultana Shirin beat Jaiswal Bina of Nepal and WFM Zakia Sultana beat Kapali Binita of Nepal.
