Zia finishes at 13th position in Kolkata Open Chess

GM Ziaur Rahman Zia finished at 13th position in the 3rd Kolkata International Open Grandmasters Chess tournament which was held in Kolkata, India.
GM Zia bagged 6.5 points out of 9 games and tied for 7th to 18th places, in tie-breaking system GM Zia became 13th.
In the 9th or last round games held today (Tuesday), game GM Zia beat IM Rahul Srivatshab of India. FM Kh. Aminul Islam became 70th, IM Abu Sufian Shakil became 78th and IM Mohammad Minhaz Uddin became 83rd with 5 points each.
FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman became 122nd, FM Sk. Nasir Ahmed became 124th and CM S M Sharon became 137th with 4 points each. FM Mohammad Fahad Rahman became 144th, FM Mehdi Hasan Parag became 153rd, CM Sohel Chowdhury became 155th and Mukaddesur Rahman Khan became 163rd with 3.5 points each.
GM Chanchal Kumer Ghosh became 170th, Md Anisuzzaman Jewel became 171st and Tahsin Tajwar Zia became 178th with 3 points each and WIM Rani Hamid became 195th with 2 points.
In 9th or last round games, FM Amin split point with Aaryan Varshney of India, IM Shakil beat Mahitosh Dey of India, IM Minhaz beat FM Mahfuz, FM Nasir lost to FM Deshpande Aniruddah of India, FM Fahad lost to Shelke Sankarsha of India, CM Sharon drew with Utsab Chatterjee of India, FM Parag drew with Polakhare Aryan of India, CM Chanchal lost to Jain Nityata of India, Mukaddes drew with Didwania Vishal of India, CM Sohel beat Saksham Rautela of India, Jewel drew with WGM Kiran Manisha Mohanty of India, Tahsin drew with Deepthamsh Reddy of India and WIM Rani Hamid drew with Siddharth Jagadeesh of India.
GM Narayanan Srinath of India emerged champion and GM Deepan Chakkravarthy of India finished as runners-up with 7.5 points each.
A total of 205 players from 13 countries including 27 grandmasters, 2 women grandmasters, 29 International Masters and 7 Women International Masters are participating in the event.
