Chittagong Bureau :
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Iqbal Mahmud on Wednesday said anyone involved with corruption would not be spared as ACC takes zero tolerance policy against corruption. “We have taken zero tolerance policy against corruption – both internal and external. Tough actions would be taken against officials if they found to be involved with corruption,” Iqbal Mahmud told.
The ACC chairman said this while exchanging views with the field level officials of Chittagong held at Deputy Commissioner Conference room on Wednesday . He said the ACC has undertaken some programs on the basis of allegation, perception and intelligence information.
Stringent actions would taken against officials, if there is any allegation of immoral practices, he said, adding that criminal cases will be filed and actions would be taken as per rules, if the commission gets allegation of corruption with proof against any ACC official. He also urged journalists to create awareness against graft and be more caring and conscious in making reports on corruption. He said it is not possible to eliminate corruption fully in the country without cooperation of all. Divisional Commissioner Ruhul Amin presided over the function while additional Divisional Commissioner Shankar Ranjan Shaha, , Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Mohammad Zillur Rahman Chowdhury, Chittagong Metropolitan Police Commissioner Iqbal Bahar and officials of different government offices among others spoke on the occasion. The government officials can do mistakes during their duties. But, if any government official does any mistake wrongly, but his intention may be good, I ensure that ACC will never file case in this regard.
ACC will file case for corruption, not for mistake, he added.
