Awami League Presidium Member Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim’s grandson Zayan Chowdhury, who was killed in the Sri Lanka series blasts on Easter Sunday, was laid to rest at Banani graveyard in the capital yesterday afternoon.
After his namaz-e-janaza at Banani Chairmanbari ground after Asr prayers, Zayan was buried at Banani graveyard at about 5.40 pm.
Before the burial of Zayan, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim gave a brief speech.
Salim said the body of his grandson was severely affected in the blasts. He urged people to pray for the
departed soul of his grandson and early recovery of his son-in-law Moshiul Haque Chowdhary who also suffered splinter injuries in kidney and liver in the deadly terror attack.

of Police (IGP) Mohammad Javed Patwary, Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Md Asaduzzaman Mia and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Director General Benazir Ahmed, Zaker Party Chairman Pirzada Mostafa Amir Faisal,among others, attended the namaz-e-janaza of Zayan.
Zayan was buried at Banani graveyard next to the graves of the martyrs who were killed on August 15 in 1975.
The qulkhawani of Zayan will be held at Banani Chairmanbari ground on Saturday next, according to family members.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited the residence of Sheikh Selim in the city’s Banani area to console the family members of Zayan.
Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury and Deputy Leader of the Opposition Rowshan Ershad also visited the Sheikh Selim’s residence.
