Former Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University (DU) Professor Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique called upon the youths to come forward to stand by people in every nation crisis as
like as they did during the coronavirus pandemic. He stated this on Friday while addressing, as the chief guest, the logo launching ceremony of social organization ‘Jonolok’ through virtual platform from his residence on the university campus, said a press release. Prof Arefin, also Chairman of Board of Directors of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha said the courageous initiatives of ‘Jonolok’ in standing by people during the Covid-19 pandemic will encourage the young generation to take part in humanitarian activities in the coming days.
Referring to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s call for social emancipation, he said if the new generation stands by the people imbued with the spirit of social emancipation in such ways, the future Bangladesh must be turned into a humanitarian nation.
Citing directives of health experts, the educationist urged the people to wear facemasks in going outside of home to remain safe from being infected by the deadly coronavirus.
‘Jonolok’ central coordinator Rafiqul Islam Sujon chaired the meeting through virtual platform which was moderated by Muktar Hossain Nahid. Former leader of Bangladesh Chhatra Moitri Tanvir Rusmat and Dr Sanjib Roy, among others, joined it.
The social organization provided financial aids, facemasks and hand sanitizers among marginal people in eight divisional cities during the pandemic. It also distributed consciousness raising leaflets among people.
