Youths need adequate financial management training

Speakers at a discussion said the youths both boys and girls need training on financial management relating to the activities of local government institutions for grooming up their latent knowledge on the issues.
They viewed designed and specific planning is very important for any strong financial management which is essential for successful implementation of the planning.
To this end, the youths should come forward towards ensuring the optimization of the system of local government with people participation.
The observation came at a daylong training workshop for youths titled “Financial Management: Transparency, Accountability, Inclusiveness and Citizenship” held at Postal Academy conference hall in the city yesterday.
The Hunger Project Bangladesh organized the training in association with PRODIGY program and British Council focusing on the importance of financial management, citizenship, governance and local governance and good governance sector.
PRODIGY programme intends to build the capacity of young people to ensure good governance in local government activities and they can lead people participation. It also works to promote civic participation and advocate the principles of integrity, accountability, transparency and inclusive at the heart of good governance.
Field Coordinator (Monitoring and Operation) of PRODIGY Programme Subrata Kumar Paul and Programme Officers Masum Rusel, Jewel Rana and Israfil Hosain conducted the training as resource persons.
From now on, the trainees will find out the problems of their respective areas. They will implement the Social Action Project to announce the problems among all the people, policymakers and the local government representatives.
The training included several individual and group presentations on financial management issues through which participants demonstrated their creativity and communication skills.
The participants will be working together to implement these projects in their respective communities in the near future.
