A young man suffered bullet injuries as his neighbour shot him during an altercation over plucking a mango at Lalkuthi under Darus Salam police station in the city on Thursday.
Police arrested the accused, Talim, 62, along with his licensed revolver.
The injured youth was identified as Naimur Rahman, 30, son of Mukhlesur Rahman, a resident of 430 Lalkuthi.
Contacted, officer-in-charge of Darus Salam Rafiqul Islam said Piyash, 6, a nephew of Naimur, plucked a mango from the tree of Talim adjacent to their house in the afternoon.
Talim slapped Piyash for plucking the mango. As Naimur protested it, Talim fired a bullet from his firearm around 2:45pm, the OC added.
