Youth held with Yaba, SI closed in Khagrachhari

Locals detained a youth with 50 pieces Yaba pills and handed over him to the police from Muslim Para area of Khagrachhari district town on Monday evening.
On basis of the information of the detainee, sub-inspector of Sadar Circle, Saidur Rahman has been closed down, in connection with suspicions of involving with Yaba business.
The detained youth is identified as Arjun Basak, 29, son of Dulal Basak of Singinala area of the district Sadar.
Khagrachhari municipal councilor Md. Shah Alam said, “The locals complained that the accused sub-inspector has been living in a rented house in Muslim Para area since a long time and doing business of Yaba”.
Officer-in-charge of Khagrachhari Police Station Shahadat Hossain Tito said, “A case was filed on Monday night against that detained youth under the Narcotics Control Act”. He also added, in connection about suspicious with Yaba business, the sub-inspector Saidur Rahman has been closed to police lines”.
Additional Superintendent of Police of Khagrachhari Sadar Circle, Rownak Alam said, “The issue of involvement with drug trade against the accused police officer is being investigated”.
If there found a linkage with drug business at the end of the departmental investigation, necessary action will be taken against him, he added.
