A young man was hacked to death by miscreants in Cemetery Road of the city on Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Gouranga Biswas,26, a resident of Muripotti area of the city.
Police and locals said one Shukur called Gouranga over his mobile phone and took him to a Christian graveyard in the area at about 1:00 am.
An altercation ensued between them and at one stage, Shukur hacked Gouranga with a sharp weapon, leaving him dead on the spot.
Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Shafiqul Islam said locals spotted the body of Gouranga from the area and informed police at about 10:00 am on Saturday.
