A youth was hacked to death by his neighbour over a trivial matter at Islampur village under Sadar upazila in the district on Friday at 9:45am.
Following this, locals handed over ‘killer’ Mohiuddin to police after giving him a mass-
beating.
The deceased was identified as Shah Jalal, 22, son of Abul Kashem, resident at the village.
Locals said Mohiuddin was locked into an altercation with Shah Jalal over a trifle matter. At one stage, Mohiuddin stabbed Shah Jalal with a sharp weapon, leaving him injured seriously. He died on the way to local hospital. Local people also caught the killer immediately and informed police.
Islampur Union Chairman Abul Kalam confirmed the incident.
