Youth gets life term for murder in Chandpur

A court here on Tuesday convicted a young man and sentenced him to life term imprisonment for killing a man in 2012.
The court also fined Tk 20,000 to the convict Mohammad Ullah, 24, son of Abdul Jalil of Singadda village in Kachua upazila.
According to the prosecution, the convict had an altercation with Enamul Haque, 24, over a trifling matter on August 6, 2012. At one stage, Mohammad Ullah hit Enamul with a sharp weapon, leaving him critically injured.
Later, he was taken to Kachua Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared him dead.
Police arrested Mohammad Ullah and submitted chargesheet against him on September 30.
After examining records and witnesses, Chandpur District and Sessions Judge Saleh Uddin Ahmed handed down the verdict.
