The archery competition of inaugural Bangladesh Youth Games began on Sunday at Ahasan Ullah Master Stadium in Gazipur.
A total of 49 archers – 25 of boys’ and 24 of girls’- from seven divisions -Dhaka, Rajshahi, Chittagong, Khulna, Barisal, Rangpur and Mymensingh – took part in the recurve division.
In the boys’ singles event, M Ibrahim Sheikh, (Dhaka Division), Mishad Prodhan (Chittagong Division), Talha Jubayer Tanvir (Chittagong Division) and Tauhid (Rajshahi Division) moved to the semi-finals after eliminating their respective rivals in the quarterfinals.
In the day’s girls’ singles event, Radia Akter Shapla (Rajshahi Division), Oboni Osman (Dhaka Division), Rabeya Khatun (Rajshahi Division) and Eti Khatun (Khulna Division) advanced to the semi-finals after eliminating their respective rivals in the quarterfinals.
