Youth disappeared in Jessore

A youth was allegedly became the victim of force disappearance after he had been picked up by some men in a private car from near BRTC counter at Jessore Central Bus Terminal on Saturday afternoon.
The allegation was made at a press conference held at Jessore Press Club on Tuesday noon.
Akbar Ali, father of the victim- Hossain Ali, employee of a multinational company and resident of Mobarakpur area under Kotwali police station – read out the written statement in presence residents of the area – Hasan Ullah Maina, Md Manu and Kamal Uddin.
Father of the victim, in the press conference, said Hossain had been working at a multinational company in Comilla after completing masters. He recently came to his residence from his workplace.
Hossain had been going missing since Saturday afternoon. He got out of the residence heading towards Jessore Central Bus Terminal after having a phone call on the afternoon of the day. ‘We came to know from a phone call that my son was picked up by some men who introduced themselves as members of Detective Branch from near BRTC counter at the bus terminal’, the father said.
His cell phone was found switched off since then, Akbar Ali added. A general dairy was lodged with Kotwali police station. A complaint was also made to the Jessore camp of the Rapid Action Battalion. But my son was not found. ‘We assume that he became the victim of force disappearance’, he added.
While asked, Ali Ahmed Hashmi, officer in-charge, Detective Branch, Jessore told New Nation that he did not know anything about the matter.
Ilias Hossain, officer in-charge, Kotwali police station, however, told New Nation that the police were trying to find out the trace of the youth. ‘We are collecting relevant papers in connection with the matter’, he added, ‘perhaps he has some problems.’
