A youth was allegedly beaten to death by his neighbour over stealing a mobile phone set at Hospital Para area under Lama upazila here on Thursday noon.
The deceased was identified as Abdus Shukkur, son of Kabir Hossen of the area.
Locals said following accusation and counter accusation by both Abdus Shukkur and his neighbour over stealing a mobile phone, both were locked in an altercation. At one stage, the neighbour beat Abdus Shukkur, leaving him seriously injured.
He was admitted to Upazila Health Complex where he died under treatment.
