The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police has arrested a young man named Bayazid (31) on the charge of opening the Padma Bridge nut-bolt.
The youth was arrested from Shantinagar in the capital on Sunday afternoon.
Earlier, a video of the unscrewing the bridge’s nutbolt was leaked in different online social media platforms. The video also went viral on social media.
Rezaul Karim, Special Superintendent of Police, CID’s Cyber Intelligence and Risk Management Division, confirmed the matter to the media saying that “We have arrested and interrogating the young man who was seen in the video opening the nut-bolt of the Padma bridge. His name is Md. Bayezid. We are trying to find out why he did this.
The TikTok video was made on Saturday after the inauguration of the bridge. “The details will be revealed at a press conference of the CID headquarters on Monday (June 27), Superintendent of Police Rezaul Karim said.
