A man allegedly killed his elder brother over trifling matter at Ghonar Para area under Palongkhali union in Ukhia upazila here on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Surat Alam, 22, son of Jalal Ahmed of the area.
Police arrested the alleged killer Anwar Sadek, 20, in this connection.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ukhia Police Station Md Abul Khair said, the two brothers locked in an altercation over cutting of banana at 9am on Tuesday. At one stage, Anwar hacked Surat with a knife, leaving him seriously injured.
Later, Surat died on way to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital.
The body was kept at the hospital’s morgue for an autopsy, the OC added.
