National Library Day observed: Young generation urged to become library oriented

Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) observed the National Library Day on Tuesday. Read books in the library, build enlightened people to hold this slogan a procession started in front of central library building and circumambulated whole campus with teachers-students, officers-employee and ended in the same places with a rally.
At the rally, presided over by Dean Prof Dr Mosaddak Ahmed Chowdhury and Conducted by the librarian Abdul Hayee Sameni while Vice-Chancellor Prof Farid Uddin Ahmed addressed as Chief Guest and Treasurer Prof Ilias Uddin Biswas as special guest.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Farid Uddin Ahmed said that the university library is being transformed into a complete digital library. The budget of the library has been increased. As soon as possible all books will be made available online for students. As a result, everyone can read all the books at online.
At that time director of center of excellence Prof Dr. Akhterul Islam, Director of IQAC Prof Dr Abdul Awwal Biswas, Prof Dr. Syed Shamsul Alam, Student Adviser Dr Rashed Talukder, Prof Dr. Abdul Gani, Proctor Prof Zahir Uddin Ahmed were also present.
BSS from Rangpur reports: Officials and experts at a post , rally discussion called upon the young generations to become library-oriented for acquiring adequate knowledge to build an enlightened society. They came up with the call at the discussion jointly organised by the district administration and Divisional Public Library (DPL) at its hall room in the city in observance of the National Library Day on Tuesday .
The day was observed here as elsewhere in the country for the second time highlighting the importance of libraries, books and reading habit in the daily life of the people from all walks in the society.
Earlier, a huge colourful rally with participation of government officials and mployees, educationists, private sector library activities, civil society members, teachers, students and elite was brought out on the city streets.
Deputy Commissioner Enamul Habib led the rally and attended the discussion as the chief guest with Assistant Director of the Divisional Public Library Md Abed Ali in the chair.
